Baptism

Jesus preached water baptism, not the sprinkling that has crept into the church. Baptism means to be dunked under the water, it is a choice for someone who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour and so is not something that a baby can go through.

Verses on baptism:

Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism Strongs # 908 “… to dip, immerse.”

Who should be baptized?

Every child of God.

Why should I be baptized?

Jesus commanded that we should be baptized (Matt 28:19)

And He also set a public example by being baptized by John.

When can I be baptized?

Only when you believe in Jesus Christ as your Saviour can you be baptized.

“Baptism is a public announcement of a personal experience. It is a Christian act of obedience and a public testimony of a believer’s willingness to identify with and follow Christ. Jesus gave us His example and His command to teach us about baptism. … Baptism is a picture of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. It is an outward picture of a person’s inner change. The believer leaves behind the old way of life in exchange for new life in Christ.” (taken from Ilumina)
